Dave is a research scientist in the Radiation and Aerosol Branch of the Atmospheric Sciences Competency at the NASA Langley Research Center where he has been employed since 1962. He has extensive experience in the areas of sensor development for atmospheric aerosol studies, and lidar applications to aerosol studies. He has participated in numerous field campaigns to measure and characterize Space Shuttle effluents and volcanic aerosols. He has also participated in field missions to validate satellite-borne sensors (SAGE and SAGE II). He organized and coordinated a global network of researchers for the validation of the Lidar In-space Technology Experiment (LITE) which flew on a Space Shuttle mission in 1994. He is currently responsible for conducting long-term studies on mid-latitude stratospheric aerosols using the Langley 48-inch lidar. Dave is Principal Investigator for the SOLAR project.

Susan Walters
Ms. Walters is the program manager for SAGE III's Educational Outreach Program, SOLAR. She earned her Bachelors degree in Communication Arts and Design with an emphasis in information and knowledge transfer from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has been employed at NASA Langley Research Center since 1992, supporting LaRC's Atmospheric Sciences Competency with its public campaigns and educational outreach activities. She initiated SAGE III's SOLAR project in 1997, and continues to be an active member in its development.

Picture of Susan Moore Susan Moore
Mrs. Moore received her bachelor's degree in secondary math education with a minor in physics education from Radford College and her master's degree in math education from Old Dominion University. She has twenty-seven years' experience in teaching math and science in the Newport News Public Schools, including middle school and high school levels.
Mrs. Moore has done volunteer work for the NASA Langley Office of Education, where she developed the standards matrix and assisted in the manuscript writing for the EduTour website. She and her students participated in a video-teleconference featuring the use of computer probeware in the classroom.
She has been associated with the SAGE III SOLAR outreach team for over two years, where she has been responsible for coordinating students in the pilot Sun photometer experiment, developing standards matrices, assisting with manuscript writing for the SOLAR website, presenting at teacher workshops, and contacting potential SOLAR participants.
