| On board processing will be accomplished by a single board computer. GIFTS will be flight validating a radiation tolerant, low power consumption PowerPC™ for the benefit of future missions. This single board computer has 128 Megabytes of SDRAM memory and is equipped with a Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter interface and PCI bus. It is highly radiation tolerant (specified to withstand a total radiation dose greater than 200,000 rads) and will require less power(10 watts) than that consumed in two incandescant night-light bulbs. |
