Autonomous Pointing & Control

Star trackers are the most accurate attitude sensors used in spacecraft. To provide accurate pointing of the imaging FTS and provide proper attitude control, GIFTS will use a dual head star tracker developed by Texas A & M University. This autonomous device is expected to provide the high accuracy() and repeatability required by the GIFTS instrument.
